David Remnick: “Republicans and Independents, evangelicals, and many others who might have voted for Trump in 2016 will eventually have to ask themselves whether it is possible to go on believing that he is a man of sufficient character to hold the Presidency. They will have to ask themselves what it means to overlook his racism and what this says about them. How can they believe it is possible to support a racist and escape that in themselves? Or will they pronounce themselves, as the Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, did, ‘not concerned’?”

Trumpworld yo:
Jason Miller, a former Trump official, gave deposition that he regularly hired prostitutes, got sexual favors at massage parlors, etc., all as part of a deposition in his case against Gizmodo.
The suit accuses Gizmodo of defaming Miller with a story citing an allegation he slipped an “abortion pill” to a Florida strip club dancer he impregnated. The story was based on a sealed court filing. Miller denies the allegation and claims the story is untrue. The lawsuit also names individual defendants Katherine Krueger, a reporter for Gizmodo’s political site Splinter, and Will Menaker, the host of the popular leftist podcast Chapo Trap House. (Menaker was dropped from the suit in the weeks after the deposition).
Everyone in Trumpworld is damaged goods. Everyone.
Update:
I left out the best parts:
The May deposition details Miller’s multiple extramarital affairs, including his sexual relationships with two subordinates during the 2016 presidential campaign. His relationship with one of these women, former Trump campaign advisor A.J. Delgado, has been public knowledge since late 2016. But Miller provided new information on a second affair with Catherine Frazier, who worked as a press secretary for Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign during Miller’s time leading the candidate’s communications operation. The affairs occurred while his wife, Kelly Miller, was pregnant and the two were not legally separated.

I just had a sewer guy come out to look at the portion of my sewer line that belongs to the city, just after it exits my property. There’s a partial blockage that he cleaned out enough so that I can function - if I don’t use too much TP.
The city doesn’t allow their sewer system to be repaired. I have to hire someone to replace it, give the city the bill, and then pay the city back either right away or over 10 years max at 5.5% interest. The work will cost in the neighborhood of $20,000 plus.
They’ll also have to dismantle the 5’ tall retaining wall along the property line (I sit way up above the street). I figure that will add another $5,000+ to the bill. There is only about four feet between my house and the property line, so it’s going to be a mess trying to find a route for the new sewer line, and there’s no way to reroute it inside the house. This is going to be awful.
The only remotely OK news about this is that I will be able to use money from my deferred comp retirement account to pay for this. It’s taxable, so I have to take out an extra 20% to pay taxes on the money, but it beats being stuck with a $2000/mo. bill from the city for ten years.
I’m retiring in less than a year. I can probably afford the hit to the retirement account (I’ve got a state pension + SS), but I’m probably going to have to get my car to last for another 10 years, and my safety cushion is now pretty much shot. Shouldn’t she have known this?
I would hope that she pretty much figured it would happen.
And persisted so everyone could see who else are racists.
The U.S. House is fighting over whether or not they can actually call a racist President a racist.

Has anyone ever told him to go back to where he came from? Sigh. Really disgusted how this prick has become a new David Duke, a media darling.
re: #109 Charles Johnson
The only time I want to see Spencer on video is if someone is punching him.

Jefferson’s manual doesn’t really make it a rule of the House. It is a procedural rule set by the chair. It takes a simple majority to overturn it, as a point of order.

No Trump tweets for 6 hrs. He sounded shaky to me, mid-day. Kellyanne said “He’s tired” as a sentence, then pivoted to “A lot of us are sick & tired in this country…” A GOP leadership/WH mtg today was canceled. Put 2 & 2 together. It’s not the House resolution- he’s out of it

OT to Puerto Rico …
Someone made a rough translation of some of the headlights on the TelegramGate chat scandal. All are screenshots. And it has all the trigger warnings.
I feel ashamed that these are the politicians that we have elected.

And that should be our response anyway: Why is the GOP more concerned about being called racists than being ones?

They want to have their bigoted cake and eat it too.
The federal government body that polices racial discrimination at work, uses “Go back to where you came from” as literally textbook example of potentially unlawful bigoted harassment. https://t.co/X4odzVu7mD

Yea, I have to go out tonight and buy some Walgreen’s generic TP, the worst TP I’ve ever used.
Just off the top of my head “Bidet” flashed.
No paper.

Fuck it.
We know if the Republicans were still running the House they would bend the rules and blast Obama as a racist with Hillary as a sexist.

Mitch McConnell is asked by @mkraju if someone said to his wife, Transportation Sec’y Elaine Chao, that she should ‘go back to her country,’ would he consider that racist.McConnell doesn’t directly answer the question.
I keep wanting to tell Mitch to go back to where he came from, but I’m pretty sure even Alabama doesn’t want him back.

The donors care about the tax cuts and judges. The base wants somebody who shares their grievances, and will take out their seething resentment on “those people.”

It’s the resentment, stupid.
Serious question: how do sane people fight against an entire 40-year media ecosystem designed to drive blue-collar white people into insane rages?
